THE CHALLENGE
One of the largest pet food manufacturers in Australia faced challenges with the extraction of data from the high volume of multi-format finance documents.

Their existing solution required a significant amount of manual effort to train the new template formats.
This additional work significantly increased their operational and maintenance costs.
THE SOLUTION
The UST SmartOps built-in IDP capability, SmartVision, was leveraged to solve the problem. The template-agnostic training capability of the platform enabled UST to deliver a solution that did not require additional training and maintenance efforts for new/additional document templates.
This solution was implemented as a SaaS service to replace the existing solution. A transaction-based pricing model minimizes the customer’s initial capital expenditure.
- The existing document processing solution was migrated to UST SmartOps by retraining the existing document types
- The solution seamlessly integrated with upstream and downstream systems using pre-packaged workflows for document processing. This included integrating with the incoming document queue for automatically routing them to SmartVision for extraction, as well as connecting with customer’s enterprise systems for posting the processed information
- 400+ templates consisting of four different document types were trained in just eight weeks
- The solution incorporated a Human-In-The-Loop (HITL) mechanism, enabling the enhancement of the extracted data and automatically pushing the data to the ERP system
