Case Study
Property and land development leader saves $2.7 million annually with long-term UST partnership
OUR CLIENT
Founded more than 50 years ago, this company has become one of the largest retail and hospitality groups in the Middle East, Africa, and India. With approximately 50,000 employees, the company operates a diverse portfolio of nearly 60 retail brands that occupy 30 million square feet of retail space.
THE CHALLENGE
Offshore partner needed for high-priority initiatives
The client approached UST seeking an offshore partner that could support the expansion of its IT team and infrastructure. The client aimed to accomplish several goals with this expansion, including more efficient execution of high-priority business projects, reduced costs, and improved scalability of IT teams. The client needed a partner with talented human resources with a range of expertise who could collaborate with their internal teams to execute important initiatives.
THE TRANSFORMATION
Collaboration drives execution and more operational agility
Over the course of the partnership, UST worked with the client on several projects critical to its business success. Most of these projects were directly related to product improvement, including a digital mapping application and floor planning application that both needed to move from classic versions to HTML and a real estate product that required streamlining multiple versions into one technical stack.
Throughout these collaborations, UST augmented the client’s team with experienced, high-level IT employees selected by the client for their project-related qualifications. UST conducted R&D for the client and helped them address IT challenges that arose during project execution. Most importantly, UST’s partnership enabled the client to operate with more flexibility, quickly ramping teams up and down as needed.
THE IMPACT
Cost savings and flexible teams result in economy of scale
Offshoring their IT team and partnering with UST saved the client approximately $2.7 million annually. With recent ramp-ups in project load, the client will likely see close to $7 million in savings in 2022. Over time, UST’s teams have become subject matter experts on the client’s systems, with deep knowledge of both their IT and business attributes. As a result, they can provide a more meaningful level of service and support. This, coupled with more flexible teams, has allowed the client to accomplish their primary goal of a consistent economy of scale.
